Our marine life is precious and here Alan has portrayed a shoal three of Old Wives, reef fish synonymous with the south-west coastline. The artist has focused on producing a group of fish suspended in animation, as they would be, along our beautiful coastline. Anyone snorkelling at The Sanctuary, Yallingup is certain to see these Old Wives in their is natural habitat. 
The bodies of the fish are carved from olive branches, pruned at Cape Mentelle Wines, Margaret River. The fins and tails are cut from an old oil drum. Every component has a story. The base is actually an offcut from another art project. The artists' use of recycled components demonstrates his commitment to the environment and sustainability.
