Accessibility

At Yallingup Galleries, we're committed to providing an enjoyable experience for all our visitors. We strive to ensure our gallery spaces are accessible and welcoming to everyone.

Physical Access

Entrance and Pathways

  • Our main car park is located a short distance from the gallery. The path, approx. 20m long, has a moderate gradient and a number of step downs, although no more than two at any time. There is a handrail along the length of the ramp.
  • There is a disabled car parking space that avoids the need to travel down the ramp, and is located a short, step free, distance from the gallery.
  • Seating is available throughout the gallery grounds and inside the gallery.
  • A step free site map is available at the end of this page.
  • Our main entrance features step free access across a stone and brick laid pathway.
  • Doorways are 85cm wide (but extendable to 90cm) to accommodate wheelchairs and mobility aids.
  • Floor surfaces throughout the galleries are smooth hardwood and short pile carpet with no steps between exhibition spaces.
  • There are three rooms on the ground floor that are wheelchair accessible. The upstairs viewing room at the gallery is not currently wheelchair accessible, with a short staircase to the upstairs room.

Parking

  • There is a disabled car parking space that avoids the need to travel down the ramp, and is located a short, step free, distance from the gallery.

Restrooms

  • The restroom is located in the outdoor section of the gallery premises. Access is via a gently sloping ramp with a small step to access the bathroom. The ramp does not have handrails or guardrails.
  • Unfortunately the bathroom is not currently fitted out for wheelchair users, with no grab rails and limited internal space.

Additional Accessibility Services

Visual Accessibility

  • All painting and sculpture information is available on our website, which has visual navigation bars.
  • Lighting is designed to minimise glare while providing clear visibility of artworks in all areas.
  • A magnifying glass is available on request.
  • For those unable to visit the gallery in person, we offer a bespoke art curation service, whereby we create insitu images of gallery artworks on your wall.

 Hearing Accessibility

  • Currently there are no hearing loop systems in the gallery, but information on all art works is available on line and the gallery staff are happy to assist with any written descriptions or communications as required.
  • A physical sculpture trail map is available online and in print from the gallery, and can be printed out in large format if required.

Service Animals

  • Service animals are welcome in all gallery spaces.
  • A water bowl is available if required.

Sensory Considerations

  • Quiet times for visitors with sensory sensitivities can be arranged with prior notice. Please contact the gallery to allow your visit to be planned in advance.
  • There are numerous outdoor spaces that are designated quiet spaces.

Staff Assistance

Our staff have received training in accessibility awareness and are available to assist visitors with specific needs. Please don't hesitate to ask if you require any assistance during your visit.

Limitations

We are committed to continuous improvement in our accessibility. Currently, we have the following limitations:

  • Parts of the sculpture trail are accessed via stairs and feature gravel pathways that will be challenging for wheelchair users.
  • The cellar door on the gallery property is accessible via a ramp, although the ramp has no handrails or guardrails.
