"The peeling was such an unfamiliar surface to work on, and forced me to paint in a very different way. I soon discovered that once I had made a mark, there was no way to “unmake” it, which at first was a daunting proposition to someone who lives for the process of discovery, of layering, of creating and destroying over and over again.
In the end it became a useful renewal of trust in my own vision and ability.
