Echoes is an exploration of the aesthetic possibilities of digital media.
Taking a formal approach to digital imagery, the work focuses on textural possibilities of the image surface rather than context and legibility. Through the redaction and distortion of visual information, Angus highlights the painterly and textural qualities of digital images.
The image used to make the work is a shower drain that had become old and rusty. Angus wanted to emphasise these textures and colours present within the photograph through digital manipulation and layering. Echoes is an exploration of the textural qualities present within digital imagery.
