We welcome you to our new book of prints of Maki’s paintings with Hillel’s haiku.
Like our other books, this is done on handmade paper. Our last large book, “We Dream the Moon and Stars” was special in that it was printed and bound in Nepal, where our paper is made. The book in your hands, “Creating our own Doves” was also printed and bound there. Maki was the creative editor, and Hillel the technical editor. And special thanks go to Marina Shrestha for arranging and supervising the printing and binding with her craftspeople in Nepal.
We often wonder what each of us can do to create a peaceful world. We don’t know what large important actions we can take, but in looking at Maki’s paintings, in particular “genesis of flight” (pages 6–7) and “Blessings” (page 25), we’re reminded that we all can indeed create our own doves and music to bring a small piece of peace into the world.
