Suzanne Lawson

Suzanne is a West Australian representational artist who works primarily in oils.  Her paintings reflect a love of portraiture/figurative and still life.  Suzanne is inspired by the traditional techniques of layering paint over a toned ground surface, slowly building up transparent layers to create depth and form in a realistic approach.

While Suzanne’s style has changed throughout her practice, what endures is her commitment to exploring painting in its many expressions. She has worked with world renowned artists in workshops and mentorship programs through her art career and education. 

Among other exhibitions and awards, Suzanne has been fortunate to be selected as a semi-finalist in the prestigious Doug Moran National Portrait Prize, as well as a finalist in the Kennedy Art Prize (twice), the National Emerging Art Prize and the Portia Geach Memorial Award.
