This December, Yallingup Galleries presents an exhibition between two Dunsborough-based artists, Roslyn Hamdorf and Toni Salmon.
Roslyn Hamdorf approaches the landscape through reduction. Her oil paintings break the environment down into fragments, rocks, grains of sand, traces of erosion — building layered, textured surfaces using a spatula to apply and remove paint. Balance, tension, and the passage of time sit at the core of her work, while still holding a strong sense of place.
Working from her home studio, Toni Salmon produces small-batch ceramics and jewellery that celebrate the quiet rhythm of hand-built making. Through slab construction and carving, her pieces explore surface, pattern, and form, each work carrying the mark of a slow and deliberate process.
Together, this exhibition brings two distinct practices into together to celebrate the subtle complexities of the natural world.
