Ric Burkitt is a professional artist and painting educator based in Stoneville, in the Perth Hills. A former graphic designer, he now works full-time from his studio, developing a practice that encompasses a diverse range of styles and mediums.
Burkitt is particularly recognised for his striking and dynamic abstract works, which explore the expressive possibilities of non-representational painting.
His recent practice extends into mixed-media landscapes in a lively, intuitive style that captures the energy of the landscape and evokes the mood and atmosphere of the Stoneville region. Through a considered use of colour, line, shape, and texture, he seeks to create emotional resonance and convey a poetic sense of place.
In 2025, Burkitt was awarded the Ellenbrook Arts Prize and named a finalist in the Perth Royal Art Prize for Landscape. His solo exhibition, Far Horizons, was presented at the Mundaring Arts Centre from June to August 2025.
Burkitt holds a Bachelor of Arts (Fine Art, with Distinction) from Curtin University of Technology, awarded in 1992.
