Collection: Ren Douglas

Watercolour allows Ren Douglas to play with intense colour while capturing light. Her painting style, developed over her 30-year artistic journey, explores the fascinating truth that when using watercolours, colour literally floats in water while the light shines through from the paper. It has a life of its own. Added to this is her love of endless and intricate details that go beyond representational to create a layer of drama in the painting.

From Vancouver Island, Canada to the coast of WA, Ren Douglas draws inspiration from nature, vivid colour and any texture. She is in love with the coastline, specifically the orange toned rocks here in south-west WA and works from photos in a tiny studio close to the beach. Ren Douglas is active in the local art community, exhibits regularly and shares her love of watercolour techniques through workshops and demos.
