Collection: Julie Silvester

Julie is passionate about the West Australian coastline, with its clear waters, clean sands, its colour, textures and light. This provides her with endless inspiration. In her words, “It gives me the ability to incorporate my other two passions in life, which is travel and photography. Capturing the essence of the coastal landscape in pastel is what motivates me to paint. Being a dry medium it allows me to work spontaneously without waiting for paint to dry.”

Julie hopes to share with the viewer the awesome beauty of our pristine coastline and see and sense the familiar and remote areas that she loves to visit. Through her paintings she wants them to feel that they can "smell the sea" or feel the cool morning sand between their toes”.

Julie communicates in her paintings the ever changing and fragile environment we live in and the appreciation we should all have of this wonderful land that is home. Painting is a fulfilling part of her journey through life and Julie states she could not imagine being without it.

During her career as a full time artist Julie has exhibited extensively and received over 100 awards throughout the state.
