Deidre Bruhn

Deidre Bruhn’s passion for art was initially sparked through life drawing and experimental mark-making focused on the figure and face. Her practice has since evolved into a dynamic exploration of mixed media.

Working across paper, wood panels and canvas, Deidre combines colour, texture, layering and collage using both handmade and found materials. Her energetic process involves continually constructing and deconstructing, allowing each artwork to develop intuitively without a predetermined outcome.

Rather than pursuing realism, Deidre seeks to capture the essence, gesture and intrigue of her subjects. Spontaneity, experimentation and serendipity are central to her practice, resulting in compositions rich in atmosphere, depth and interest.

Guided by authenticity, creativity and a willingness to take risks, Deidre embraces the beauty of the unexpected; the perfectly imperfect.
