Damien Gavillet is a self-taught exhibiting sculptor, born in the North of England. After many years of travelling he settled in Perth, Australia. He works with driftwood and fallen timber, ceramics, metals, bones and stone, to create sculptures inspired by the native flora and geology of Western Australia.
He is particularly drawn to river scapes where the flow of water reflects the passage of life, shaping the environment in ceaseless movement. Through the creative process each sculpture has guided his hand and eye to reveal their own unique story.
Damien's work is represented in private and public collections throughout Australia and overseas.
