‘My inspiration comes from the abundance of beautiful flora and fauna that surrounds me, where I live in a remote corner of Western Australia. Every day I enjoy watching and listening to a variety of native birds. These are my favourite animals to paint and creating every little picture brings me immense joy.’
Sara was born in New Zealand in 1969 and moved to Australia with her family in 1981. Having worked in a variety of fields and travelled overseas, she trained in stained glass in the early 90s with Judy Kotai of (the then) Mountolive Stained Glass. They exhibited several times both at the gallery and at the Mundaring Arts Centre. During this period, she also designed freelance for Australian Fine China and sold artwork in a few Western Australian galleries.
Always fascinated by the nature that surrounded her, she found that painting miniatures was a way that she could continue to enjoy her art whilst also focusing on raising two children with her husband. The family moved from the Perth hills to the Great Southern in 2020, to a remote rural property, rich in native birdlife.
