Shaped by an intriguing past, Kyrgyzstan is one of the most unique places that I have visited in terms of culture and landscape. The low levels of exposure to tourism allows the Kyrgyz people to retain strong opinions and ideologies, while the landscape, although serene and beautiful, is harsh and barren, which also shapes the people of this nation into strong, hard-working individuals and communities.
One of the most fascinating aspects of Kyrgyzstan is its recent past, since the collapse of the USSR. Elements of the soviet era are still very much visible, either in the abandoned towns and settlements, or in the form of ideas about the governance of this newly independent country.
Kyrgyzstan is one of the toughest countries to write about, because it is simply not like anywhere else i have been however what I can say, is that it is truly unique.
