Collection: Stuart McMillan

Born in Whyalla, South Australia and growing up on Ngarridjeri - Ramindjeri country from Goolwa to Victor Harbour Stuart has always been fascinated by his natural surrounds. The beach side, bushland, river, and desert were places for family holidays, surf expeditions with mates, camping out, smells of sunscreen, campfires, plush red earth, crystal white sand, breakdowns on the side of highways and generally a joy filled existence with family and friends outdoors.

In 1999 Stuart moved to the Wadandi Boodja - Margaret River Region, which started as a surf seeking mission, and activated a deeper desire to create art, photos, and music. Studying Visual Art locally at Margaret River TAFE in 2004 and in Perth at Edith Cowan University, completing a bachelor’s degree in 2008. From this point on his creative flow hasn’t really stopped.

After finally settled back in the Southwest over the last 4 years after being quite transient for much of his thirties, following inspiration overseas and interstate. He continues to explore creative expression in a variety of mediums and exhibit all over the globe, working on murals, private & public commissions, delivering talks, & workshops, activating community art projects, and generally sharing the joy art and creativity can bring to all.

More recent years has seen me exploring elemental shifts in the environment. Observing the seasonal transitions of light, wind, water, and fire. I’m intrigued by natures resilience and malleability, as the climate adapts so must all species.
