Mia is a professional West Australian artist, working mainly in oils, capturing the beauty, colour and joy of life at the end of a paintbrush. Along with her traditional still life and figurative works, Mia is known for her whimsical portrayal of animals. Her passion to capture water, the coastline and its inhabitants is an ongoing inspiration for Mia to paint.
Mia states that “The incredible lifestyle we are blessed with in Western Australia has been a big part of her artistic pursuits for the last ten years”. Married to an avid sailor and having spent many long weekends on their boat at Rottnest Island, Mia found the best way to keep an eye on her children as they swam, was to join them with an underwater camera.
With her daughters now adults, she plans dedicated water shoots and directs them as her models. This gives her perfect reference photos for her underwater oil paintings, capturing the intense colour, reflection and refraction on the human body.
Mia paints widely across many genres, including, but not exclusive to her narrative figurative paintings. Mia also paints traditional realistic still life, wildlife and whimsy in both oils and watercolour.
