Irene King spent a happy childhood living in the south west of Western Australia on a property surrounded by animals in a natural environment. She was encouraged by her mother at a very early age to pursue her love of drawing.

In 1969 Irene graduated from Graylands Teachers College. After travelling through Europe for two years, she continued teaching art at a local primary school and her students had numerous successes including the winner of the Sydney 2000 Olympic Poster.

More recently Irene attended TAFE to pursue her Certificate in Art and Design. She has been invited to exhibit her work in several competitions and has participated in numerous group exhibitions.

Irene continues to focus on capturing the innocent sensuality of the female form. Her dreamlike figures are elegant and delicate and are intended to evoke a connection to nature in its simplicity and innocence.
